Greetings Titan family,
Working with children has taught me the value in “keeping it simple.” This is especially true since both schools and children are very complex (in their own way). As such, if I find myself in a challenging situation with a child, I often will start my solution building with 3 simple and easy to remember concepts: sleep, nutrition, and exercise.
Many times, learning and/or behavioral challenges are linked back to one or more of these three items. Therefore, solutions must also include the item in question. This is where the partnership between school and home is vital. We cannot go home and manage the sleep, nutrition, and outside of school activities for your child. We can only share our observations and make suggestions for how to move forward. Ultimately, families will determine how sleep, nutrition, and exercise are part of their child’s daily routine.
Therefore, as we move into the Thanksgiving and Christmas season, take time to look at the role these 3 factors play in your child’s routine. If you are experiencing challenges, perhaps a solution that includes one or more of these may help.
Now, here are some announcements for the week.
Please note that cargo pants are not part of the school uniform. We ask parents to please not send their child to school in cargo pants. Also, we ask that the pants not purchased online match in color to the ones expected. If you need something from our used uniform stock or are waiting for new pants to arrive, please let us know.
Finally, remember that boots are not uniform shoes. Please refer to the handbook for guidelines for shoes.
Our annual Scholastic Book Fair will take place November 15 – 19. It will be both in person and virtual. We are currently working with the TPA to get volunteers to help. If you wish to help, please contact the TPA at [email protected] or Ms. Escalante at [email protected]. Additional details will be shared next week.
Individual picture retakes are Tuesday, November 9.
On Monday, November 15 at 6:00pm, we will host the second Admissions/Prospective Family Open House. While this event is mostly geared towards potential new families, current families are welcome to attend.
I am asking each current family to help us make the Open House a success by doing one (or both) of the following.
- Attend the event and bring a potential new family with you.
- Ask a potential new family to attend and have them tell us you sent them when they check in.
For each family that does one (or both) of the above, your child(ren) will receive a free dress day (to be arranged with me). To RSVP for the event, please click here.
Our third Open House event is January 24. We are also looking to do a special “step up” day for students and families on January 24. We will share the details once they are available.
We are looking to visit neighborhoods to talk about our school. If you are willing and interested in hosting an admissions event at your home for us to meet your friends and neighbors, please contact Ms. Escalante. She and I are scheduling our ’22-’23 admissions events now. We are also planning a couple of weekend onsite events for potentially new early childhood (3K, 4K, K) families. Stay tuned for more details coming soon.
