New Cultural Exchange Project and More

Holy Trinity Episcopal School Titans

Greetings Titan family,

Here is a story I told students in assembly this morning. How do you think it applies to your child at school?

After flying a long distance, a thirsty crow was wandering the forest in search of water. Finally, the crow saw a pot half-filled with water. He tried to drink from it but the crow’s beak wasn’t long enough to reach the water inside. The crow then saw pebbles on the ground and one by one, he put them in the pot until the water rose to the brim. The crow then hastily drank from it and quenched his thirst.

Now, here are a few reminders and announcements for this week.

Cultural Exchange Project

Holy Trinity is starting a video cultural exchange program with St. Augustine’s School in South Africa, where our Music teacher, Ms. Bernie Henderson’s sister is a teacher. Our plan is to exchange pictures of projects that we are doing as well as sharing cards and letters. Thank you to Ms. Henderson and Coach Sweeney for your work to help our students get insight into how students experience school in another country.

School Pictures

Individual school pictures are scheduled for Tuesday, October 4. Please make sure your child is wearing the Chapel uniform. Some of our families have not yet received the Chapel uniform. If you have an extra one (top half for the picture, not the pants), please consider sending it to school that day for someone to borrow for the picture. We will make sure you get your extra uniform back after pictures are done.

Pet Blessing Day

Also on October 4, we will host our annual Pet Blessing Day. This will take the place of Chapel and will be held in the space between the playground and school building.

Please note the following guidelines:

  • One pet per student, please.
  • Pets must be properly leashed, caged, or in a carrier. No loose pets.
  • Pets cannot stay at school. Once the event ends, the pets need to go home.
  • Please be prepared to clean up after your pet, even on the grass by the playground.
  • If your student does not have a pet (or cannot bring the pet), he/she can bring a favorite item/stuffed animal/picture of a pet.
  • If your pet does not socialize well with other animals or people, please do not bring it to school.

End of the Quarter

The first quarter ends October 13. HTES will be on fall break from October 14 – 17. Once report cards are ready to be shared, you will receive a message with instructions for how to access your child’s report. This is scheduled for Friday, October 21.

We do not host a school-wide conference day. Individual teachers may reach out to families with whom a conversation is needed. If you wish to schedule a conference after report cards are released, please contact your child’s teacher directly.

Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month

On Friday, October 7, the 3rd grade invites everyone to a Celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. The event will take the place of our regular school assembly in the gym from 8:20 – 8:50 am.
